Inhale the fragrance of nature…

Wind-kissed, sun-drenched and nurtured by the hands of Nature herself, Il Sole di Ranco nestles as a lake-side theater with the sky as its vast blue awning. Take a deliciously natural route from Malpensa towards Somma Lombardo. Then go towards SS33 to Vergiate Sesto Calende. From there, follow the directions to the Angera Road that takes a natural bank around the Lake Maggiore. You will be transported before you blink an eye into a superb scenic setting, straight from a film. As a matter of fact, Hemingway’s ‘Farewell to Arms’ was shot at the tourist spot of Stresa on the western shore of the lake which flows for nearly fifty kilometers.

The sun always shines in this part of the world as the beautiful scenery of lovely villas on one side and the azure lake on the other evolves before your eyes. Take a romantic walk through shrubbery lined mountain paths and look down at the Po valley plain with blue lakes and up at the snow-clad mountain peaks. Right in the middle of this magical village of Ranco, the vision centers on the unique Il Sole di Ranco. Walk into its elegant interiors where the Brovelli clan entertains the palate with gastronomic delights. Take a peek at the natural world from the old 1865 building that has been renovated to house fifteen beautiful rooms with views of the lake and the surrounding pastoral scenery. Carluccio, the father and his son, David, take you through a discovery of traditional cuisine. Itala, Carlo’s wife, opens out a treasure chest of home-made preserves and sauces bottling the essence of tradition. With spicy teas and fruit conserves, Itala tells you of ancient secrets from far-off countries with traditional distillates, sweetmeats and bonbons Presenting the palate with a succession of tastes, aromas and fragrances, the Brovelli family is all set to bring you the flavors of a new world. Celebrating the 150th anniversary, Il Sole di Ranco has the awards of Carlo and David as members of the ‘dell'Associazione dei Giovani Cuochi d'Europa’, ‘L'Association des Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe’ and members of the ‘Association of Young Chefs of Europe’.

Watch the great chefs in action as Carlo’s famous seafood dishes take pride of place with David’s fabulous desserts following suit. Carrying on a tradition of 150 years as a heritage, the Brovelli family offers a range of fantastic dishes with the rare Piemonte white truffles, meats, fish and pasta. With an incredible spectrum of wines and cheese from all over the Italian provinces, the Brovelli family gives you a unique insight into their world of wines that come from local, regional and international sources. Go through a tasteful menu with lake trout and perch from their backyard lake besides Melon Duck Carpaccio, Pike mousse with fine lemon mayonaise, Cep (porcini) and fried garlic Scallops, Calamari in aubergine Raviolini, Tricolour scampi lasagna, Milano cutlet with mustard and a delicious spiced fruit salad.
