Riva del Garda

On the northern edge of the lake is Riva del Garda. It is the most prosperous among the settlements on the banks of the lake. It is a beautiful resort with medieval towes, churches and palaces. It is a treat to walk on the cobblestone streets.

Getting There

By Bus
You can travel to Riva del Garda from Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione, Limone sul Garda, Trent, Verona and Brescia.

By Boat
Alternately you can take either a ferry or a hydrofoil from Limone sul Garda, Gardone, Sirmione and Desenzano. There are operated by Navigazione Lago di Garda and schedules vary with the season. Check their website for further information.

Visitor Information

The tourist office is on Giardini di Porta Orientale 8, near the lakefront. It is open seven days a week (Mon-Sat 9 am to 6:30 pm; Sun 10 am-6:30 pm) during the summer months and Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:15 pm the rest of the year.

Festivals & Markets

An international classical music festival is held each year in July. This is a very popular event, attracting music lovers from all over the world.

Exploring the Town

The only attraction of historical significance is the 13th-century tower, Torre d'Apponale, and the nearby castle, La Rocca.. The tower is open only during certain times and if you are lucky enough to climb it, you will be treated to some magnificent views. The moated La Rocca exhibits local arts and crafts. Open from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:30am to 5:30pm and 9:30am to noon and 2 to 5:30pm on Sundays, an admission is 3€ is charged.

The tourist arranged for free guided tours of the Old Town on Tuesdays and Fridays. Be sure to book before 5pm the previous day. The was is really useful for you to get a feel of the town.

But the biggest crowd puller is the lake and the various activities it has to offer. You can take a walk down the promenade or the pebble beach. You can take windsurfing lesson or just take a refreshing dip in the lake.

Water & Land Sports

You can rent boat (row or pedal) from the beach near the castle. It normally costs 6€ to 7€ per for they hour but they do have some very attractive offers. It is open from 8am to 8pm from March to October. You can take windsurfing lessons at Nautic Cub Riva on Via Rovereto 44. They also rent out the necessary equipment at 39€ a day, 17€ an hour and 24€ for 2 hours. Or you can explore the town on a bike. Superbike Girelli on Viale Damiano Chiesa 15 and Fori e Bike on Viale dei Tigli 24 rent out bikes.
