Bozen

Situated between the Talvera and Isarco rivers Bozen, or Bolzano in Italian, became part of Italy only after World War I. This ancient town dates back to the Iron Age, with a 5,000 year old iceman’s corpse on display at the local museum. In the Middle Ages, Bozen was an important town famous for its market.

Visitor Information

For information on Bozen and Sout Triol head to the tourist office at Piazza Walther 8. It is close to the Duomo and work from 9 am to 6:30 pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays.

Getting Around

The best way to get around is on a bike. What makes your bike ride even more special is the fact that between Easter and October it is absolutely free! The local municipality provides the service and all you have to do is leave 5€ deposit and you passport and driver’s license numbers. You can find these bikes on Viale Stazione just before Piazza Walther, or on Piazza Gries.

Festivals & Markets

April and May – concerts every weekend

1st May until the end if summer – flower show

Last two weeks in August - Concorso Internazionale Piantistico F. Busoni (an international piano competition)

October – Teatro de Strada (musicians, mimes, puppeteers, perform on the streets)

November to December – Mercatino di Natale which is the handmade crafts and toy exhibition at Piazza Walther. You will

get to taste some exquisite pastries and mulled wines.

First Saturday of every month (except July-Aug) - flea market at Passeggiata del Talvera along the River Talvera.
