Bagni Vignoni

Bagni VignoniBagno Vignoni, the only place on earth where you can find a central village square made of steamy water, is a tiny village on the top of a hill and with a great tradition of healing baths. The Etruscans first discovered the healing properties of thermal waters in Bagno Vignoni The Romans used to come to Bagno Vignoni for both health reasons and for relaxation and this exhaustive list includes Lorenzo the Magnificent, Saint Catherine of Siena and Pope Pius II Piccolomini. Alder Thermae is close to this historical hotspot and a visit there will transport you back in time. You can experience its ancient bathing culture in a completely natural surrounding.

The thermal mineral water that feeds Bagno Vignoni comes from the Mount Amiata. This water trickles into the ground and dissolves the soil’s minerals and sulphur from the limestone. This process takes decades and it travels more than 40 km southwest to Bagno Vinoni. The water that reaches the town and the Alder Thermae Resort has a constant temperature of 50º C. This water is excellent for its rejuvenating treatments and several other beauty treatments.
