Solfatara Crater - Naples, Italy

The Solfatara Crater is believed to be the home of Vulcan, the god of fire. What is amazing about the crater is that the entire rock is supported only by the steam pressure underneath. The steam, water and mud from this region were used in ancient medicines. The crater is open on all days from 9.00 am till one hour before sunset. You can take a guided tour to the crater, which should cost you 44€ (approx.).
